EMBASSY gallery is seeking a new committee member!

Deadline for expressions of interest: Wednesday 11th December

EMBASSY gallery is an artist-led space in central Edinburgh that delivers an annual programme of exhibitions and events. EMBASSY is made up of a non-hierarchical committee of 4-6 volunteers who contribute to and shape the organisation, generally for a period of around two years. The committee are also trustees of the organisation, which is a OSCR-registered charity and Company Limited by Guarantee.

The role requires taking responsibility for all aspects of running and maintaining our gallery, devising and delivering our annual programme, installing exhibitions, hosting events, and managing our funding and finances. We often work collaboratively to support each other, though each committee member will also have the opportunity to take the lead on project/s and pursue their own interests. We would like to emphasise that this is currently a voluntary position that requires a commitment of around 10 – 14 hours per week, and involves working with other committee members, artists, organisations and the public.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, most of our meetings, interviews, and some aspects of our programme will be conducted online when possible. We do, however, currently have an exhibition open to the public two days per week. Our current team is working from home most of the time, though comes in once or twice a week depending on what kinds of tasks need done. Our office is available for the committee to use at any time.

We are keen to hear from people who are personable, enthusiastic and have a keen interest in contemporary art. Priority will be given to individuals based in Edinburgh and the surrounding area. We apologise in advance, but unfortunately we are unable to take on new committee members who are presently in undergraduate education.

If you would like to apply, please put together a short written expression of interest (maximum: 400 words) or a short video or audio recording (maximum: 3 minutes). This should outline why you would like to become part of EMBASSY gallery, and what you would bring to the role. Please email to  with Committee Open Call 2020 in the subject line, or use Wetransfer to send if using AV file. No CV’s please!

EMBASSY welcomes expressions of interest from everyone, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, race, age, religion or belief, class, disability, marital status or pregnancy or maternity status. Unfortunately our present venue is located in a basement and is not fully accessible to everyone due to a significant amount of steps to enter. If this presents a barrier for you, but you are still interested in the role and organisation, please email .

We look forward to hearing from you,
