A woman tells of a hallucination of giant waterfalls in a sparse desert canyon. Amongst waking visions and primordial landscapes, a mysterious pink rock is found travelling through time. It slowly creaks and cracks in the darkness, un-dead. You reach out for it, or has it already reached out for you? A long forgotten amateur geologist reads from his ragged-edged notes. He tells of cryptic rocks and landscapes, with mysteries yet unsolved. As he unravels his strange observations, the layered strata provokes visions of cakes and sandwiches. A pilates class for mountains drifts across the airways. A foot disturbs the mud and a hand strokes the rock, subtle traces of ancient atmospheres linger in the air. 

Geomyth explores peculiar instances in the land about us, from the tops of high mountains to the depths of the earth. Piecing together a series of scenarios, it seeks that which waited for it all along. Faith Limbrick (2021)

Faith Limbrick (b. 1990, Birmingham, UK) is an artist based in South Shropshire. She was part of the In Tandem residency at Embassy Gallery and Basic Mountain in Nov/Oct 2019 alongside Connie Hurley. Faith works with moving image, sound, and performance. Her work investigates the functions of the imagination and its relationship to land and landscapes through the experience of long-distance hiking as well as buildings and architecture and how different forms of narrative can be made around them.
