In Touch -Open Call

Calling all artists, makers and booty shakers! We have an exciting opportunity for you!

We are commissioning 6 artists to make work for our postal exhibition series ‘In Touch’.

‘In Touch’ Postal Series finds its roots in expressions that encourage us to stay in contact to “keep in touch”, or “be in touch” with one another. ‘In Touch’ will provide opportunities for artists to make new or develop works which will be sent to subscribers’ homes. This exhibition series will deliver art engagement by facilitating physical contact with artworks, for those who may be unable to interact with art events this year.

This commission is open to emerging artists. Selected artists will be commissioned to make postable artwork of any form as long as it can comfortably fit through a letterbox [254mmx38mm]; this can be anything from an A4 print to a fancy flat-pack kit. The artists will be financially supported to produce the postable reproductions of the artworks.

EMBASSY will provide an artist fee of £500, a material budget to cover expenses of developing the initial artwork and will provide a production budget to cover the cost of reproducing the artwork for posting purposes (this is limited to £20 per artwork reproduction) please keep this in mind when planning your time and project. EMBASSY will facilitate the posting of works to subscribers and will cover all postal charges.

Selected artists will be curated into pairs. This will result in three separate postal exhibitions that will take place in July, October and December. Each postal exhibition will come with ‘gallery texts’ which will include information about the project, your practice and social media links so subscribers can learn more about what you do. There is no theme, only the drive to connect with others.

The artworks will be posted out to 50 subscribers, providing individuals with an opportunity to engage with art from the safety of their own home.

Deadline to apply: 08/05/2021 at midnight.
