OPEN CALL: GRADJOB
Deadline: 24th of September 2018
GRADJOB is a collaboratively produced learning and professional practice programme which aims to support eight recent graduates across eight months.
GRADJOB aims to reach graduates working across a range of disciplines and varied artistic approaches, across Scotland to build a useful graduate resource. The programme will begin in October 2018 and the curriculum will be based around six intensive weekend gatherings. These sessions will focus on the graduate needs within Scotland today. The eight selected residents will work collaboratively to develop the content of the programme along with invited educators, artists and organisations through workshops, publications, discussions, meals, screenings, events and trips. Each GRADJOB participant will bring forward their own ideas about the needs and desires of graduates post creative education and will actively contribute to the programmes design and delivery across the eight months.
This opportunity will provide immediate and sustained professional development for those leaving education. GRADJOB supports and challenges artists in the early stages of their career by offering opportunities for creative development by providing practical advice on how to survive and thrive in the world beyond art school.
GRADJOB celebrates learning how to: create opportunities, get funding, write applications, work with galleries/curators, build audiences, work collectively, make your own art world, juggle things (metaphorically), make friends, stay confident and grounded, find spaces, expand networks and be proactive.
EMBASSY hopes that GRADJOB will culminate in a collective group of supportive and supported emerging creative practitioners with an undetermined, yet useful final outcome.
The eight graduates selected for GRADJOB will be expected to commit to full involvement in and engagement with all aspects of the residency programme which will commence in November 2018 through late June 2019.
GRADJOB is supported by the EMBASSY and Creative Scotland.
