About the venue
EMBASSY’s venue is open to the public during exhibitions and other events. Generally we open on Thursday to Sunday between 12noon and 5pm during exhibitions.
Travelling to the gallery
Our gallery is located on a cobbled street in central Edinburgh, around five minutes walk from Edinburgh Bus w, ten minutes walk from Waverley Rail Station, and thirty minutes walk from Edinburgh College of Art’s Lauriston Campus. The nearest bus stops are on Broughton Street and York Place. Bus stops at Leith Street, Elm Row, and Leopold Place are also located nearby. More information can be found on the Lothian Buses website.
Information about our venue
At present our gallery space is not wheelchair accessible, as we are located in a basement. There are 12 concrete steps to descend to reach the gallery space, and our stairway is unable to accommodate ramps or a stairway lift.
As we aim to showcase a massively varied and super exciting range of art, and art practices, our venue can change significantly depending on what is on display: for example, the type of lighting, or the level of audio, may alter. Presently there is no central heating system at EMBASSY, though we provide space heaters for some participative events. We aim to provide a description of all known environmental factors for each exhibition or event at the venue in its promotion, but do get in contact with any accessibility questions you may specifically have.
We have one gender-neutral toilet. As our restroom is in a private area of the venue, generally designated for workers, there is no clear signage to reach it. We are, of course, happy for our audience members to use the restroom upon request if required.
