OPEN CALL
EMBASSY presents:
Biscuit Tin Film Festival !

Opening up,

Taking off the lid and look inside;

Rummaging:

for something small or old or forgotten or replaced or repaired or remembered.

Started and left unfinished, the one that never made it, half shown, half shared,

half seen.

EMBASSY gallery is looking for submissions of moving image and film work under 15 min for the first edition of our new two day film festival Biscuit Tin!

If at first you don’t succeed, failure may be your style.

—Quentin Crisp, The Naked Civil Servant

This is a paid opportunity to screen your work in front of an audience with a friendly and supportive committee. There is no theme for the film submissions, but we especially encourage submissions of work which has not previously found a place to be shown and can relate to themes of missed opportunities, something forgotten, shoved aside or disregarded. The project hidden in a folder on the old harddrive, the film for the show that got postponed or cancelled, the work which was never quite able to fit the predetermined categories, which ended up shoved away with the other forgotten trinkets in the biscuit tin.

This opportunity is for film and moving image work which is pre-existing and previously unscreened in a physical space. There are no parameters on the date of when the submitted work must have been completed and we encourage submissions of past work as well as new.

Submissions are open to works which have been shown online previously.

Artists will be paid a screening fee of £60 and access bursaries of up to £80 on receipt will be available for travel, childcare, and additional needs to attend the screening.

Submissions are open to applicants across the UK.

Deadline to apply: 25/11/2021 at midnight.

To Apply: Please email info@embassygallery.org with the information requested in the list below –

  • One Vimeo or Youtube link, or link to a platform for viewing the submitted film.
    • For submissions we will watch up to 8 minutes. If submitting work longer than this, please submit an excerpt or include time keys for which section of the film you would like us to watch. Please include passwords for password protected films.
  • Brief description of work (100 words max)
  • Artist statement (100 words max)
  • One page CV (optional)
  • Social media account / website details if relevant

When submitting, please add your name and “BISCUIT TIN Open Call” to the subject of your email.

Applications can also be submitted in video/audio format.

If you have any questions or if there is anything we can do to make this opportunity more accessible to you, please email us at info@embassygallery.org
