Send Nudis: Nudibranch Encounters for Socially Awkward Times
During this pre-recorded performative visualisation experience, Hang Linton and Laura Lulika offer tools and guidance to create a new imaginary friend who could be called upon in times of social awkwardness and isolation. Participants are invited to move or lie comfortably in their space, accompanied by visuals and live ambient sound to become fully immersed in a new caring encounter.
Nudibranchs, also known as sea slugs or sea bunnies, are a group of soft-bodied hermaphrodite molluscs, of which there are around 3,000 known species. They mate, breathe and eat in unique ways. This performative visualisation experience invites participants to discover their inner nudibranch as a way of exploring an unconventional method of care. New perspectives on the body and identity are suggested by asking people to think, embody and fantasise about inhabiting different kinds of biologies.

Hang Linton and Laura Lulika are a working-class queer artist duo focusing on socially engaged community arts. Their practice explores unconventional methods of care based on their own interdependent relationship and experiences of Access Intimacy.
Laura Lulika: Lulika is a chronically sick and disabled queer artist, currently living in Leeds, UK. Working predominantly with video, sound and performance, their practice explores themes of care, sexuality, labour, sickness, counterculture, dirt and performativity in the everyday: Their work is driven by the rhythms, movement, and rituals within daily activity. They enjoy collaborating with others, looking at accessibility from various perspectives, and they often work with their partner and primary carer, Hang Linton. They strive to work in interdependent supportive formats which reflect the care needs of everyone they work with. They are a founding member of the collective Sickness Affinity Group. Lulika is currently doing an Arts Council England funded DYCP research project called, The Trogs.

Hang Linton: Hang is a self-taught interdisciplinary artist and musician from South East London and living in Leeds, working with sculpture, sound and live performance. Linton’s work is a rebellion against clean aesthetics and working underneath capitalist structures which demand high output. They are currently researching Black Quantum Physics and Afrofuturist Time. Hang is working on their first solo EP and is supported by NME x Squarespace’s BIG 10, Launchpad Leeds and Help for Musicians.
